About the event

Actionable Peace Fall 2022 is a series of small group discussions revolving around Nikole Hannah-Jones’ book, 1619 Project: A New Origins Story. Each month we focus on four or five book chapters, and over the course of a few discussion questions, share insights to gain a deeper understanding of race and racial injustice in America so that we can illuminate actionable paths toward peace.

Each discussion will build upon the last while still focusing on the lessons of that month’s particular chapters and current events. We welcome participants of every race, ethnicity, gender, and religious affiliation to further enrich the dialogue and foster individual growth.

Please read the following chapters in advance of each each book discussion:

  • Saturday, August 20: Chapters 1-4
  • Saturday, September 24: Chapters 5-9
  • Saturday, October 22: Chapters 10-14
  • Saturday, December 10: Chapters 14-18
